There are some really fantastic kitchen cabinet designs available today – gone are the drab dark beech or oak fronts with inset frames sat on MDF carcasses. The modern homeowner wants a truly authentic kitchen refit to include solid wood and proper carpentry skills. I have been watching a house refurbishment just up the way from me – a staggering amount of gutting and refitting has been carried out and lorry loads of wood and supplies have been turning up on a regular basis. The kitchen and ground floor living space has been totally redesigned to take in a whole wall of upper and lower cabinets, integral hob, ovens of various types and an enormous island with cupboard each side and proper breakfast bar style edges so the stools can actually fit underneath when you sit on them. The design work up front was really well done. Every aspect of the family needs was taken onboard and incorporated into the new living space.
